Dohány Street Synagogue

The Dohány Street Synagogue is the largest in Europe and the second-largest in the world. Built in 1859 in a Moorish Revival style, its twin onion-domed towers create a striking and unique silhouette. While entry to the interior requires a ticket, the richly ornamented exterior and the nearby memorials—such as the Tree of Life—can be admired freely. The small square in front of the synagogue is a pleasant spot to rest and take in the surroundings. The area is also home to kosher restaurants and Jewish cultural sites.
