Széchenyi Chain Bridge

The Széchenyi Chain Bridge was Budapest’s first permanent bridge over the Danube, opened in 1849. The bridge’s iconic stone columns and neoclassical pillars are instantly recognisable. It offers a magnificent panorama of both sides of the city, whether walking or just looking out from the riverbank. The view is always stunning. The Chain Bridge is a symbolic link between the Buda and Pest sides of the city, and one of its most recognisable symbols.
